    Mixed Media Approach:

    Mixed Media Approach:

My artistic process involves a thoughtful selection of materials and techniques. I transitioned from paper to canvas boards on custom aluminum panels for structure and presentation. The panels are painted to integrate with the artwork and varnished for protection. My mixed media approach uses Liquitex acrylics and inks for vibrant colors and Caran d’Ache pencils and crayons for detail and texture, resulting in layered paintings.

My artistic practice is rooted in mixed media. I find the unique effects and textural possibilities from combining various materials very appealing and vital to my creative vision.

My primary medium is Liquitex High Viscosity Artist Color Acrylic. This professional-grade acrylic paint offers rich pigmentation, a buttery consistency, and excellent coverage. To enhance vibrancy and luminosity, I often blend it with Liquitex Acrylic Inks, adding intense depth and a subtle glow.

I also incorporate Caran d’Ache materials for intricate details and ethereal qualities. I use Caran d’Ache PRISMALO™ Aquarelle colored pencils for fine lines, precise details, and subtle washes of color. I also use Caran d’Ache Neocolor II Watercolour Crayons for hazy, dreamlike effects and textured layers. These crayons blend well and can be used dry or with water, offering versatility.

By combining these materials, I build rich layers of color, texture, and depth in my paintings. This creates a captivating and emotionally resonant visual experience.

    Liquitex

This section provides a brief history of Liquitex, highlighting its origin as “Permanent Pigments,” the development of water-based acrylic gesso and paints (Soft Body and Heavy Body), and its position as a major supplier of acrylic paint products.

Liquitex is a US company supplying art materials, focusing on the development, manufacture, and distribution of acrylic paints. Founded by Henry Levison as “Permanent Pigments” in 1955, the company created the first water-based acrylic gesso. That same year, Levison reorganized the company as “Liquitex.” In 1956, they began selling water-based “Soft Body” acrylic paints. They introduced “Heavy Body” paints with a thicker consistency in 1963. The company offers a large range of acrylic paint products.
